The main concept of "The Paradox of Simplicity and Complexity" followed by the core spirit of the Digital Art Plan of Education and Creation carrying out by the National Taiwan Museum is trying to create complicated computer arts by the simple programming tools. It encourages artists to use digital media to create geometric images and to develop more complicated computer arts later on by the gradually-accurate programming tools. Applying the DBN, a kind of simple tool with only more than 20 instructions, you need to much know the reason why you use it if you are creating a complicated work by the DBN. In digital arts, the media that the artists use is always questioned, because the essence of the art is almost totally concealed by the attractive form of interaction and vision.
The exhibition of "The Paradox of Simplicity and Complexity" does not aim at interacting with the audiences merely for interaction. It starts from the simple programming tools and through the cross-disciplinary cooperation of artists, like the entry-level workshops, advanced seminars, lectures and forums. Artists can think over the combination of programming software and their creations. In the end, they finally come back to the simple creative spirit and form.
The linear ideology of this exhibition, starting from the simplicity, evolving with complexity, ending in the simple form and meaning, contains many paradoxes between the simplicity and complexity of the art creations that makes the viewer's mind linger on.
