Every year, the Award is seen as a great event in Taiwan's art circles. The various Museum-coordinated curatorial, promotional and marketing programs, such as competition rules, exhibition scope, venue design and award announcements, are closely followed by artists, and the 200,000 NTD grand prize prompts all kinds of artists representing the manifold spirit of contemporary art to apply. Three-hundred and sixty-six artists from all over Taiwan entered this year's fierce competition.

The panel of nine judges for this year's event included the professional artists and art critics Ping Lin, Hongjohn Lin, Wu Mali, Chung-li Kao, Dean-e Mei, Tsong Pu, Chen Kai-Huang, Yang Mao-lin and Amy Huei-hua Cheng. After a rigorous selection process, four grand prize winners, Shi Jin-hua, Chou Chu-wang, Shih Yi-shan and Su Yu-xian, and eleven honorable mention winners clearly stood out from the rest. The average age of award recipients was under 30 years old. Besides the generous monetary prize, winners will have an opportunity to exhibit their work at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum.

The works of artists who participated in the competition were diverse and representative of the rich variations found in contemporary art. Each year the exhibition strives to be all inclusive in presenting artworks which reflect transformations in aesthetic trends. This year's winners were especially agile in utilizing everyday objects, interdisciplinary media and a wide variety of techniques to develop new artistic forms, and each artist's unique creative style offers the audience a fresh and new artistic experience. We anticipate that these rising stars of the art world will delight the audience with their multiple points of view and diverse visual expressions!
