The performance is based on the concept that the contour of a city is decided by the shapes of its buildings. This time, the performing artists will cast lights on buildings as a gesture to
revitalize the rigid brick-and-mortar city and construct a public space for imagination whose boundary and form will constantly be reshaped.
By redefining the physical structure and visual character of the buildings at the performance venue, the live performance will change people's idea of architecture. In the show, buildings will be transformed into a perceptual construction composed of lights and sounds that by watching it, the audience will be able to go beyond the reality and picture an invisible city in their mind.
About the Performance
[
Concept
]
The shape of the skyline is determined by the buildings in the city. By casting lights on architectures and changing their existing contours, it is possible to construct a space whose form is constantly changing and on which the public can project their imagination. The NTMOFA audio light performance will exploit several high lumen projectors to reconstruct the physical structure and character of existing buildings and transform them into a perceptual structure composed of lights and sounds. It is a performance that will change the image of the everyday environment and a surreal invisible city is thus formed.
[
Performance]
At the venue, a large audio-visual instrument will cast lights on the outer walls of the onsite buildings. Computers will control five projectors and cast simultaneous image projection onto five walls. By putting the audience into an environment in which lights and shadows interact with the space, the show will awaken the body perception of the participants.
It is a performance that captures the subtle interplay between lights, sounds and architectures. The ongoing rhythms that differ in speed and magnitude will change the audience’s perception of the surrounding space in which the sold buildings and the intangible lights/sounds will constantly converse, contrast, merge, and depart from each other. It is an audio-visual festival that will convert the environmental reality into a space of blazing illumination and intoxicating music.
