WANG Ya-Hui, a young artist, presented her new video arts "Tropical Project: Snowman" at the TV wall at the Time Square of National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts this March. It could provide an alternative poetic atmosphere for the museum.

The new artwork is derived from the concept of WANG's previous artwork, "Visitor", in 2007 which described a cloud passing through an old house, and it has provided a new perspective to describe the relation between this space and object that could be regarded as an alternative reality in that moment. This year's artwork however put the focus on the snowman presented by three videos.

Shaved ice is one of Taiwan's delicacies during summers; yet, the character in the artwork of the Tropical Project was the snowman which symbolized fun, games, festivals and the environment. The videos showing on the TV wall were telling the process of a melting snowman expected to convey a sense of "think outside the box". It's interesting to mention that the artwork encouraged the audience to think outside the box yet the audience can be more concentrating to the daily matters. The artist presented a thoughtful and inspirational story with some daily matters rather than dramatic stories.

Everything is changing or transforming along with Earth's variable rotation. How do we use different ways to observe matters? The project is about environment, temperature, sense and experience. Wang presented her first snowman in Taiwan, a subtopic island. The exhibition will run from March 11th to June 30th. The audience is welcomed to experience the transition between a space and the soul, and travel into the poetic world by Wang.
